When he found home in my night eyes
We couldn’t tell when morning gave up on him
A reflection played tricks on my anxious eyes
A shadow seemed to come nearer to me
And with that presence, the realization of its absence
Something dead had just begun to stir with life
No sooner had a moment of hope appeared on the horizon
A disdainful darkness followed in its strife
And I couldn’t tell when the light disappeared like a wronged wife
