Ennui strikes soft
leaving distinct footprints in my starlit eyes
The world looks interested
I surprise myself
I see through their pretence
Even as I try hard not to succumb
to irresistible irresponsible slumber

It’s a blurry world
I can hear my mind whisper
My heartbeat slows down
Mother Earth’s bosom
had never seemed this tempting

I straighten up
Run my fingers through my long hair
Even my hair screams ‘midnight’
I shake off the debris from my eyes
Cajoling the remnants of fallen stars
with the promise that
I’ll put them back on after sundown…
